Years from now, I hope that Nephew Lucas keeps this photo in a frame, proudly displayed in his office or bedroom. I've enjoyed many outings to the ballpark in my 40 years, but I was never given the opportunity to attend a Major League game in the presence of my dad and both of my grandfathers. For a summer evening in North Texas, the good Lord could not have blessed us with more pleasant weather: clouds, 75 degrees and a slight breeze. We took advantage of "Nolan Ryan Dollar Hotdog Night" and mixed in a bag of peanuts, a box of popcorn, a pretzel, a few beers and one large Sprite. We listened to the hometown fans jeer former Ranger Ian Kinsler only to be silenced in the bottom of the ninth when he made a tough play on defense worthy of ESPN's highlight reels. When the final out was recorded around 10:45, the Tigers had defeated the Rangers 8-6, extending a winning streak to six games.
As we exited Globe Life Park in Arlington, Dad and I discussed plans for where we could catch the Tigers next summer. We've never been to Fenway...
