I have one of my sister's old friends, Zarina, to thank for helping my Amazon ranking break into the six figures. Last I checked, Cypress Walls stood at #623,123. I also know of one sale on Kindle, but I'm not sure if that was tabulated. Nevertheless, it feels good to not be ranked in the millions - at least for the next few days.
Since my last post, the distribution company I signed with earlier in the year, Blu Sky Media, notified its clients that it would be shutting down, a victim of this crappy economy. While this was not-so-great news for me, it especially stinks for the company's president, Greg Snider, and his staff who are now hustling to find new gigs. Greg and team, however, didn't leave the publishing companies and authors Blu Sky represents hanging. Before they broke the news to us, they had lined up another company to handle our distribution. I am grateful for Greg's integrity and I'm scheduled to chat with a rep from the new firm on Tuesday.
I recently picked up my tennis rackets and joined a UTSA league here in El Paso. I haven't played regularly in about three years and my body has constantly reminded me of this over the last few weeks. A couple of Saturdays ago, I could barely walk after I finished my match and had to take a few days off. Thankfully, I played without pain yesterday and am looking forward to hitting again on Tuesday night. So far, my record is 2-1 and our team is 3-0. This, of course, has nothing to do with my writing, but it does give you some insight into why I haven't updated the blog in so long. I guess my priorities have shifted recently. That said, ideas have been churning through my head head quite a bit lately for another book. I now must decide if a) I have enough discipline to pull it off and b) if this jaded world in which we live can stomach another love story.
Make it a great week!
